Floor Coverings
People have a variety of floor coverings to choose from in their homes. In recent years trends in the flooring sector have opened up the choices available to us and many people will now mix and match floor coverings in their homes according to the room in question. The most popular types of floor coverings include:
- Carpets - carpets remain a popular choice for many people. Some people will, for example, carpet their entire house whilst others will have some rooms carpeted and others floored in different materials. Carpets can be found to suit all kinds of rooms and purposes.
- Wooden floors - many people like the look and convenience of having wooden flooring in some or all rooms in their homes. This kind of floor covering is easy to clean and can come in all kinds of different woods, finishes, colours and designs. Sometimes you will have a wooden floor laid specially and sometimes you can simply strip back your existing floorboards and use these instead.
- Laminate floors - laminate floors are a way of getting a wooden floor effect by laying laminate wooden strips on top of an existing floor. Like wooden flooring this option is easy to maintain and the cost may be cheaper here than many types of woods.
- Tiled floors - covering floors with tiles remains a popular option for many people in many rooms. Some, for example, will tile their kitchen, hall and bathroom floors because this kind of floor covering is easy to clean and is hard wearing. Tiles come in all kinds of materials here and can be laid in different ways. You can, for example, have stone, vinyl, cork or carpet tiles in this kind of scenario.
Finally, with so many of us opting for wooden or laminate floors it is worth remembering that these types of flooring can be warmed and brightened up with a rug or two if you prefer.
